For the Food Technology Programme several fellowship programmes are available :

Dutch National Fellowship Programme, NFP.
This fellowship programme is managed by the NUFFIC, the Dutch governmental organisation dealing with fellowships.
This fellowship is open for a number of nationalities, see the Nuffic website. Food Technology is listed under the heading Engineering in the list of eligible programmes.
It is a full fellowship, which includes tuition fee, travel and living costs.

Every year around 6 students get an NFP fellowship awarded for Food Technology. However, the more students apply for NFP, the more positions become available !

Applicants need to have at least the following gpa : 80% or higher on a national scale; First Class or Second Class Upper (Honours) or equivalent. Second Class Upper and Second Class Lower are NOT eligible.

Huygens Fellowships
The prestigious HSP Huygens Programme is open to excellent students from all countries of the world. It is aimed at talented students who want to come to the Netherlands in the final phase of their bachelor’s studies or during their master’s studies. The programme is administered by Nuffic, see the website here.

Applicants need to have at least to have the following gpa : 90% or higher on a national scale; First Class (Honours); Cum Laude (BSc level) or equivalent.

On average only 1-2 students are awarded a Huygens Fellowship for Food Technology.

Food Valley Ambassadors Fellowship
Prestigious fellowship for outstanding students who pursue a career in the food industry. Full fellowships, but with an extended programme, 2,5 years instead of 2 years, which includes one year traineeship in one of the sponsoring companies. Graduates will be an ambassador for Food Valley.

Applicants need to have at least the following gpa : EU students 75% or higher (non EU : >85% or First Class) on a national scale;or equivalent. Second Class Upper and Second Class Lower are NOT eligible. Students that can show to be in the top 10 % of their class may also be eligible.
Target countries : Europe, USA, Japan, Australia, China, but students from other countries may apply.

Preference is given to students interested in Food (process) Engineering (specialisation Sustainable Food Processing).

DST  Fellowships
These fellowships are only open for European students (EU and non-EU) who have applied for the specialisation Dairy Science and Technology. These fellowships have a maximum of 10.000 Euro/year.

European Masters Fellowships
Every year a few fellowships are available for non European students that have applied for the specialisation European Masters in Food Studies. These fellowships have a maximum of 5000 Euro/year.

Application is open only AFTER HAVING BEEN ADMITTED TO WAGENINGEN UNIVERSITY. More information see the European Masters website.


StuNed fellowships

These fellowships are specifically for students from Indonesia. These are full fellowships, including tuition fee and living allowances.

China Programme
This is a fellowship programme from the Dutch government for excellent Chinese students. More information, contact Neso Beijing

The food technology programme is internationally well regarded and fellowships have been awarded the last years by : World Bank, Arabic Bank, Saudi Food and Drug Administration, Conacyt (Mexico), Colfuturo (Colombia), Onassis Foundation (Greece),  Japanese Fellowship programmes and others.
